Guests Are Being Asked To Provide a PIN/Passcode

If your guests are being asked for a PIN or passcode when they try to access your gallery, it may mean that your gallery is set to private link access. This is a security feature that lets you control who can view and upload to your gallery. Here is what is happening and how to fix it.

This can happen when:

  • Event hosts have accidentally shared the incorrect browser URL link after bypassing the welcome page rather than the correct Magic link. The Magic link (found in your dashboard) is the only correct link to share with guests that will not prompt them for a passcode. The Magic link is the only link to share as it directs your guests through to your welcome page first.
  • Guests try to access the gallery in incognito browsing mode or occasionally via Facebook or Instagram browsers. We recommend guests use only a mainstream browser (Chrome, Safari etc.) so they are not prompted for the PIN and so they can have the best viewing experience.

We also recommend sharing your Magic link with guests directly by email, SMS or whichever communication channel works best for you. You can find both your Magic link (does not require a pin) and your pin-protected link in your host dashboard.

You may even choose to provide your pin to your guests in case they need it. This unique pin can be found on your host dashboard, underneath your Pin Protected Link section.

How to find your PIN

Log in to your host dashboard at my.guestpix.com

Go to your gallery settings or sharing section

Your PIN will be displayed there - share it with your guests so they can access the gallery

If you would prefer guests to access the gallery without needing a PIN, share your Magic Link instead of (or in addition to) your QR code.

Log in to your host dashboard at my.guestpix.com

Find the Magic Link in your sharing or QR code section

Copy the link and share it via text, WhatsApp, email, or your event invitation

The QR code links guests to your private gallery URL which may require the PIN depending on your settings. The Magic Link bypasses this. You can share both — the QR code for on-the-day use, and the Magic Link for digital sharing before or after the event.

Guests are entering the PIN but it is not working

If a guest is entering the correct PIN but being told it is wrong, try the following:

•       Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the PIN when typing it

•       Try refreshing the page and entering the PIN again

•       If the issue continues, share the Magic Link directly with that guest as an alternative
